Hi, I’m Nicola, I'm from London and I'm the founder of Filia Candles.  I’ve always had a love of home fragrance and the way different scents bring back happy memories of favourite times and places with friends and family.  So in April 2020 when I was suddenly made redundant I found I finally had the time to put both my love for candles and my experience of retail into starting my own business, and that’s how Filia candles was born!

Why the name Filia?  Well it means friendship in Greek and is one of the four ancient Greek words for love.  I am fortunate to have the love and support of great friends and family in my life which is why I chose the name Filia, and I am half Greek too.

Every Filia candle and wax melt is hand-poured in small batches by me, and each fragrance, wick, and wax combination is carefully selected and tested for our candles.  I use a premium, natural, and sustainable soy wax sourced from the UK, which is vegan friendly, cruelty free and biodegradable.  I strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible, choosing recyclable, or biodegradable packaging wherever possible, (you can read more about our packaging here).
